Part II. The Parts of the Article
Part II began, in II.A, by insisting that no section should be drafted before the discourse carrying the whole article was fixed. Sections II.B through II.G then worked through that discourse component by component — the hypothesis that anchors it, the Title and Abstract that compress it, the Introduction that expands it, the Related Work that positions it, the Method and Experiments that operationalize it, and the Conclusion and Discussion that close it — and this section completed the remaining components of I.A’s prototype that support rather than carry that same discourse. Part III now turns from the structure of these components to the sentences and words that fill them: the same functions identified throughout Part I and Part II, examined at the level of tone, register, and lexical choice.
